Would you beleive that a scarecrow is scared? Here is a story of one such scarecrow named Scardy. He was very afraid of the dark.
One night Scardy met Shadow a black cat. Shadow was a brave handsome cat. He loved night, and seeing his shadow, as he walked through the piles of leaves. The leaves crunched underneath him, as he made his way toward Scardy!
"Hello there," Shadow purred, as he wiggled pass Scardy's feet.
Scardy replied, "Aren't you afraid of the dark?"
Shadow laughed, "Not at all. Are you?"
Scardy shurgs, "How can you not be? You are smaller than me?"
Shadow gazes up at him, "Sometimes you have to be brave."
Slowly the Scardy bends down to the cat's level, "How can I be brave?"
Shadow inches toward Scardy, "You need to think positive! Think good thoughts! Night is fun, because it is hard too see."
"With no light it is oh so scary," sighs Scardy.
"That is negative thinking," admits Shadow. "You could dance in the field with Mrs. Jone's scarecrow, or play a game with the annoying crows. You could do a lot of things. Will you try to not be afraid, if I stay?"
Scardy nods his head, watching Shadow pawing at something in the grass.
Shadow stops, his green eyes glowing, as he softly speaks, "See I caught a mouse in the field," he exclaims!
"What will you do with it?" Scardy asks.
"I will put him back," Shadow says. "I know where to get bigger mice! Will you come with me?"
Scardy pets Shadow, "I don't know. I guess," and so Scardy follows Shadow to a neighboring farm.
The farmhouse is old and creepy, as Shadow lurks closrer to the entrance. "The mice hide in here," exclaims the cat.
"I can't go in there," says Scardy. "It looks frightful!"
"Not at all," explains Shadow. "Inside is a lot nicer. The farmer is recdorating!"
"You are right," Scardy chuckles softly. "I will try not to judge things, without trying them. I will keep my mind open to new ideas, even if they are scary!"
Shadow purrs rubbing against him, "That is good. Let your heart guide you."
